Sar ah Hänggi is a choir conductor and highschool music-teacher from Basel.

 

In 2014, she completed her master's degree in choral conducting and music education at the "Hochschule für Musik Basel" under Raphael Immoos and then studied specialized choral conducting under Anders Eby at the "Robert Schumann Hochschule" in Düsseldorf. Since 2016, she has regularly performed romantic, contemporary and experimental programs with her professional vocal ensemble Tradiophon. She directs the Basler Beizenchor, which specializes in acapella pop, the Kleinbasler Kammerchor, and the choir of the Münchenstein Gymnasium. Since 2013, she has worked as a music teacher at the Laufental-Thierstein Gymnasium.

Since 2019 she has been the artistic director of the international singing festival "enchanté" in Riehen.

In the seasons 23/24 and 24/25 she is responsible for the choir direction in the drama production "Antigone" by Antu Romero Nunes at the Theater Basel

In recent years she has directed the Intercantonal Men's Choir, the Reveille Choir of the Basler Liedertafel and the Youth Choir Basel. In 2018 she was engaged for the music theater production "Abhängigkeitserklärung" for an extremely mixed choir by Benjamin Van Bebber and Leo Hofmann at the Kampnagel Theater in Hamburg. From 2013 to 2016 she was an assistant in the Swiss Youth Choir.

She attended master classes with Grete Pedersen, Anders Eby, Nicolas Fink, Raphael Immoos, Catherine Fender and Hans Michael Bäuerle.

Sarah Hänggi received the 2018 Cultural Promotion Prize of the Canton of Solothurn for her work as a conductor.
